My fiance has bowled for a few years now (he's 22). When I first met him, he brought me to the local bowling alley on sunday, his league night. We've been together for a year and a half now, and I now bowl on his league with him and his parents.
This past New Year's Eve, we went bowling, just like we did last year. It's a blast! I was up to bowl, and got done with my turn. I went back to the counter area to take a drink of my pop, and all of the sudden, I heard my name. So I looked over, and there he was, on his knee with the ring! And the screens that display the scores said "Heather will you marry me". It took me by complete suprise!! His parents were there (mine unfortunately couldn't make it due to illness) and they brought out a cake and flowers for us. It was so neat and special, because the bowling alley was one of the first "dates" that we went on. :)
My fiance and I met while attending Northwest Missouri State University. We graduated in May, but the following fall we returned to campus for Homecoming. Friday night we attended the variety show like we had in the past and then took a walk around campus. On campus is a bridge appropriatly named the "Kissing Bridge." Tradition is that all students need to get a kiss on the bridge to be a true Bearcat. We wandered that way, (never let it be said that we aren't true Bearcats!) and while on the bridge, my fiance turned to me and said, "We have a lot of memories here, how about one more?" With that he dropped to his knee and asked me to marry him! It was perfect, NWMSU would have always been a special place for us, but now we have another memory to tell our grandchildren.
Fiance and I are hockey fans, and we have season tickets to the Des Moines Buccaneers. One game night, the marketing rep for the Bucs asked me if I wanted to shoot for a custom made chopper at next weeks game during the intermission. I jumped at the chance (thinking I could sell it and just pocket the money if I made it.) I practiced all week on how to shoot a puck in my garage with my now fiance, and was annoyed when my mom was video taping me 'practicing'. So the big night came and I was a little nervous about it. All of our friends and fiance's family came out (which wasn't out of the norm for them to do.) I even talked my parents into coming (I had to do some talking to get them there even though they knew what was going on.) 5 Minutes before the intermission, I was afraid that the marketing rep had forgotten about me so I was just going to let it go, but Fiance told me he would walk me down to where I needed to be (he said he had to go to the bathroom) I walked out on the ice and grabbed the stick just as the MC told me that I wasnt going to be shooting for a chopper. Thats when Fiance walked out on the ice. The first thing that ran through my head was 'is he going to shoot for me??' but then I could faintly hear our song playing in the background and I understood what was going on. I started bawling and managed to spit out the word "Yes!!" It was the best moment and most creative thing anyone has done for me.
